Sensei salil Nadkarni, Roku (6th)dan Isshinryu Karate-do
Sensei Salil Nadkarni born at Pune,Maharashtra State, India in 1962. He is a Bachelor of Chemistry, Diploma in Paint technology and Bachelor of Law. Sensei Salil started learning Judo in 1978-79 but soon shifted to Wadoryu karate in 1980,he studied till 1987, the art of wadoryu and achieved brown belt, 1st Kyu in Wadoryu. When he came to know that his instructor in Wadoryu is not a legitimate blackbelt holder, so Salil shifted to Isshinryu karate-do.
In 1992 he received his Sho(1st)dan in Isshinryu and statrted his dojo in the city of Pune. He received his Ni(2nd)dan and San(3rd
)dan in 1994 and 1997 respectively. He participated in “1996 Isshinryu World Karate Championships” at Gainesville, Fl, USA. He was awarded “The IB distinguished Instructor Award 1999” by Isshinryu Brother hood (IB), FL, USA. In 2000 he received his Yon (4th) dan by Isshinryu Brotherhood Society, FL,USA. He also received his Yondan from American Isshinryu Karate Association (AIKA), TX, USA and Australian Isshinryu Karate
Association (OIKA), Australia. He was awarded title of Renshi-go (i.e. polished instructor) by AIKA, TX, USA in 2000. He was awarded “Spirit of Isshinryu Karate Award 2001” by AIKA, TX, USA.
He received his Go (5th)dan from Sensei George Iberl, Ku (9th) dan Isshinryu Karate-do, PA, USA in 2002. Salil was awarded Roku (6th
) Dan by George Iberl, Ku (9th) dan, PA, USA and by Isshinryu Brotherhood (IB), FL, USA in 2004. Salil was awarded with, “Isshinryu Brotherhood Order Hombu Merit Award 2004” which is the highest personal award by
Isshinryu brotherhood, FL, USA. In 2004, Salil is awarded “Spirit of Isshinryu Karate Award 2004” by Australian Isshinryu Karate Association.
Sensei
Salil is also practicing “Matayoshi Kobudo” for past seven years. He is the president of “Isshinryu Karate & Kobudo Association of India (IKKAI) And Okinawa Kobudo Association of India (OKAI). Sensei Salil has won a gold
medal in Kata and a bronze medal in Kobudo in “2000 Millenium World Cup of Martial Arts” held at Sydney, Australia by International Sports Karate Association (ISKA). He won second place in Kobudo and third place in Kata, “2003
Okinawa Isshinryu Karate & Kobudo Association (OIKKA) Hall of Fame Karate championships” held at PA, USA. Sensei Salil’s wife Sharmila is a Yon (4th) dan in Isshinryu karate-do and his son in a Ni (2
nd) dan in Isshinryu karate-do. Till date 45 of his students trained by him and his wife Sensei Sharmila have participated in various world as well as international championships since 1996 and have won 45 medals
making Sensei Salil and sensei Sharmila proud. Sensei Salil has taught 13000 girl students from various colleges in Pune in the art of self-defence, free of cost, for social cause. |
