PROFILE: GRANDMASTER RON GONINAN

Grandmaster Ron Goninan

Australian martial artist, Ron Goninan serves as the humble Director/Chairman (Guan Zhan) of the White Crane Research Institute (Incorporation Number INC9874707).

As such he oversees and co-ordinate the activities and research undertaken by the White Crane Research Institute (WCRI). He acts in the capacity as the supervisor and administrator of the Association and related activities in the field of martial arts. The White Crane Research Institute's aim is to research the essence and spirit of Crane-Fist and related traditions with integrity and honesty.

Shifu Ron Goninan has been recognised as a “Grandmaster” of Baihequan by Grandmster Gu-Ping of China

Ron have been involved within the martial arts in various forms and levels for the past 32 years. He has been lucky to have undertaken a modest amount of research into White Crane via various people such as our Technical Master Sifu Yap Leong, Sifu Erle Montaigue, Sifu Paul Wollos, Sifu Lu Lu Ke, and Sifu Gu-Ping.

Making no claim to being a “master of anything”, he simply tries to do his best by those who choose to walk on the martial arts path with him. To many, he is simply “Ron”, eschewing the use of titles and ranks, He believes the essence of the martial arts is what matters most

He is member of the Martial Arts Industry Association (Membership No. 414), the peak association for martial arts in Australia as recognised by the Australian Government.

 He is also a member in good standing of the International Alliance of Martial Arts Schools.

 Ron holds Internal Martial Arts Instructor Qualifications with the World Taiji Boxing Association and is a life member of the Australian Therapeutic Movement Association.

Ron Goninan is also a member / Australian Representative for the Martial Arts Association – International and the International Gu-Ping Wushu Federation.

Additionally, he is a member of the International Sifu Federation.

Ron is also an Australian Government Recognised holder of a Security Industry licence having spent over 12 years in this line of work and am a member / Australian Representative of the International Connection of Bodyguards / International Security Service.

With a professed aversion for claiming formal qualifications stemming from a former pursuit of them, Ron simply exist to explore the wonderment and depth of the White Crane art and seek to join in research and study with those interested in joining with us on our pathway to the Martial Arts. The White Crane Research Institute shall remain a small, non-profit, non-commercial association of people seeking something more from their involvement within the martial arts. It will remain as an association for people, not "martial artists.

It his my sincere aim to continue to explore the martial arts unfettered by the politics, ego and other like-distractions normally associated with the martial arts world.
