Tae Kuk Mu Sul History
Tae Kuk Mu Sul comes from techniques developed in Korea 5000 years ago. KoChoSun is the name of ancient Korea, which was a much larger country than it is now, including all of Manchuria and almost half of China. This art was developed in order to provide its country’s citizens with a way of defending themselves, even without weapons. These ancient Korean techniques have been passed down from generation to generation for thousands of years. Each generation of Grandmaster Suk Ku Kim’s family has added their own techniques to the style. Grandmaster Kim organized the system used to teach Tae Kuk Mu Sul and created the name Tae Kuk Mu Sul. He began teaching in Sacramento, California, U.S.A. in 1988. In 2003, Grandmaster Kim began teaching the style at the California State University of Sacramento. In 2004, he began teaching this style at the University of California Davis.
