Wu Li Ryu Ju-Jitsu was officially recognized as a legitimate martial art on March 28th, 2004. It is something that I have been working on for several years, and by no means is it complete. As I learn and grow as a Martial Artist, so shall that the system grow and change. Wu Li Ryu Ju-Jitsu is a result of all of my experiences as a martial artist, both good and bad.
Wu Li Ryu Ju-Jitsu has elements of many different martial arts. It has elements from Tae Kwon Do, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Black Dragon Kenpo, Senshi Ryu Ju-Jitsu, Muay Thai, Aikido, Koreja Do Karate, and many other systems. It is molded after most traditional Japanese Ju-jitsu systems. It encompasses Striking, Kicking, Throws, Joint Locks, Ground Work, Unarmed and Weapons Defenses. Wu Li Ryu Ju-Jitsu trains a martial artist in the four fighting ranges, which are Kicking, Punching, Trapping, and Grappling.
The main focus of Wu Li Ryu Ju-Jitsu is Basic techniques. Most of the techniques required for promotion between each belt level are very simple and basic techniques. The reason for this is simple. When you have to defend yourself in a real situation, you will rely on your instincts to help you. Basic techniques are easier for a student to learn and to practice. With a minimal amount of time and effort, these techniques will become instinctive. That makes them more effective to use in a real situation.
Wu Li Ryu Ju-Jitsu does have some advanced and complicated techniques as well. The reason for this is twofold. First, it is fun to learn something that is a challenge. When you finally get the technique to work it is a real feeling of accomplishment. The second is to challenge a person both mentally and physically.
Wu Li Ryu Ju-Jitsu is a complete martial art because of the range of techniques in the system. I don’t claim that Wu Li Ryu Ju-Jitsu is better that any other martial art or system. It is just a different way of looking at and training in the martial arts. Wu Li Ryu Ju-Jitsu can be a very effective martial arts system.
The concept of Wu Li Ryu Ju-Jitsu is to take what I teach and make it your own. Wu Li Ryu Ju-Jitsu loosely translated means “My Way and Style of the Gentle Art.” I encourage all of my students to train in different martial arts systems, as well as different instructors and students of the martial arts. I feel that this cross training will only benefit each martial artist.
All certification for Wu Li Ryu Ju-Jitsu comes from my association, which is the International Wu Li Ryu Ju-Jitsu Association. I am recognized and certified as the Sho-Dai Soke and 6th Dan in Wu Li Ryu Ju-Jitsu by several martial arts organizations. I also have an Honorary 6th Dan in Korea Do Karate, 4th Dan in Tae Kwon Do, 2nd Dan is Senshi Ryu Ju-Jitsu, 1st Dan in Black Dragon Kenpo and American Modern Jujitsu.
